Operating as boatbuilders on the tidal Thames, Richmond Bridge Boathouses are proud of their reputation as specialists in the building of traditional wooden craft. Projects have ranged from PICCOLO a twelve-foot canoe to the LADY MAYORESS a 42-ft shallop for the Coy. of Watermen and Lightermen.
Craft have included Thames camping and racing skiffs, pleasure and racing punts, electric canoes, small launches, sail boats, whiffs, shallops and a Thames wherry. We have also in co-operation with "The Great River Race" designed and built 4 and 6 oared recreational racing cutters. These are available in traditional wood and G.R.P. In all 21 have been built so far and are raced at several new events on the Thames in London culminating in the 23 mile Great River Race in September. Ranging from regular maintenance to complete restoration of craft, we offer a wealth of experience when advising you on how to maintain your traditional boat. All repairs are done with the sympathetic use of materials and a full range of traditional fittings are made in-house. We are always happy to give advice to customers.

The Royal Oak an 18th century racing cutter currently in the Henley River and Rowing Museum and many other boats of historical interest.
Sails, flags, boat covers and cushions can all be made to your specific requirements by our seamstresses. In particular we specialize in custom made work using traditional materials. We can visit your boat on site to measure for camping covers, storage covers or cushions and deliver the finished product.

The Celebration of Time was an event to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and to introduce a brand new yet traditional craft to the river Thames. The new craft is to be called "Jubilant". The Shallop, being built at Richmond, is a replica of the eighteenth century barge on display in Somerset House in central London.
Built by Mark Edwards, a traditional boat builder at Richmond upon Thames for the Thames Traditional Rowing Association the "Jubilant" is for training disabled rowers to join able-bodied rowers in events, ceremonies and regattas on the Thames.
